Designs and Display
The MateView GT 27, like the MateView GT, is very clean-looking. The panel is thin, the bezels are small and the matte black finish looks sleek in a world. The MateView’s sleek metal base and stand look more mature than most gaming panels, and the build quality is robust.
The panel’s factory brightness level of 188cd/m2 combines with a black point of 0.07cd/m2 for a fantastic contrast ratio of 2,686:1, but that’s still below Huawei’s quoted 4,000:1 level.
The panel also rendered 99.4 percent of the sRGB gamut at 120.6 percent volume, and it scored 85.5 percent in both DCI-P3 measurements – but those DCI-P3 figures are below the 90 percent stated by Huawei. At least the color temperature of 6,581K is virtually flawless, and uniformity is excellent.
What do we like about Huawei MateView GT 27?
The panel is slim, the bezels are thin and the matte black paint job suits my tastes far more than any outlandish over-designed gaming fare. That includes the stand, which besides being pleasingly straightforward, also offers a touch more upwards movement a crucial feature if you hope to achieve good posture while working.
None of these things matter much if a monitor doesn’t deliver in the performance department. There’s proof this monitor can produce colors accurately. Luminance peaks at around 396cd/m², which is very good for general use, even in brightly-lit environments.
